Tokyo-based Itochu Corporation has agreed to accept shares of US-based fusion start-up Blue Laser Fusion (BLF) through a third-party allotment. Itochu also concluded a strategic and business alliance agreement with BLF regarding fusion energy-related businesses and other related businesses in which the laser technology developed by BLF will be used.

Chinese-French TAC-1 (CNPE) consortium has won a contract for the sub-assembly of modules for the vacuum vessel of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), under construction at Cadarache in southern France. The consortium includes China Nuclear Power Engineering (a subsidiary of China National Nuclear Corporation - CNNC); China Nuclear Industry 23 Construction Company Ltd; Southwestern Institute of Physics; Institute of Plasma Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences ASIPP; and France’s Framatome.

The Turkish government has decided that Rosatom will build the country’s second NPP, Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev told the State Duma (Russia’s lower house of parliament). The announcement was broadcast on the website of the lower house. “President [Taiip Revzhip] Erdogan publicly announced that a political decision had been made to transfer another site to us,” Likhachev noted.
