The VVER-TOI reactor pressure vessel (RPV) has been installed in the central hall of unit 2 at Russia’s Kursk-II NPP. The operation was overseen by Andrei Petrov. Rosatom First Deputy Director General for Nuclear Energy and President of Atomstroyexport JSC.

The inner dome of the containment building has been installed at the unit 3 of the Changjiang NPP in China’s Hainan province. China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) said the steel dome with a diameter of 46.8 metres, a height of 23.4 metres and weighing 518 tons was hoisted to a height of some 70 metres and lowered into place at an altitude of about 45 metres using a 3200-tonne crawler crane. Changjiang 3&4, both with Hualong One reactors, are planned to be fully operational in early 2027. CNNC said this signalled transition from the civil engineering stage of construction to the installation stage.

The reactor pressure vessel (RPV) has been installed at unit 2 of the Zhangzhou NPP in China's Fujian province, China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) has announced. This followed installation of three steam generators at the unit earlier in August. And has paved the way for the lifting of the inner dome and the welding of the main pipeline, CNNC said. The pressure vessel was independently designed by China Nuclear Power Research and Design Institute and manufactured by China First Heavy Machinery Co Ltd.

The reactor pressure vessel (RPV) has been hoisted into place at unit 2 of the Zhangzhou nuclear power plant in China's Fujian province. Zhangzhou 2 is the second of two Hualong One units being built at the site, scheduled to enter commercial operation in 2024 and 2025, respectively.

The third tier of the internal containment (VZO) has been installed at unit 2 of the Akkuyu NPP under construction in Turkey. The VZO provides protection for the reactor compartment and is a support for pipeline penetrations and a polar crane, which is used to service the reactor during its operation.

The VVER-TOI reactor pressure vessel (RPV) has been installed at unit 1 of the Kursk-II NPP under construction in Russia, three weeks ahead of schedule, said Andrey Osharin, First Deputy Director for the Construction of New Units at Kursk NPP. The RPV was delivered to the site in September 2021. “Since that time, a lot of work has been done to prepare a transport and technological scheme for the installation. The installation of the hull in its regular place marks the active phase of the installation of the equipment of the reactor plant. This event paves the way for the start of commissioning,” said Osharin, emphasising the significance of the event.

Rosatom has installed the fifth tier of the internal containment (VZO) at unit 1 of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant under construction in Turkey, Akkuyu Nuclear said on 17 January. Steam generators have also been delivered for Akkuyu 2.
