The Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) has published the second edition of its Small Modular Reactor Dashboard which tracks the progress of selected small modular reactor (SMR) designs towards deployment. NEA says the SMR designs are at various stages of development, from fundamental research on new concepts to commercial deployment and operation of mature designs.

JSC Ruspolimet in Vyksa (Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod region) has shipped the lead transport and packaging container TUK-137T.A1 manufactured for the Akkuyu NPP under construction in Turkiye. The equipment was manufactured by Ruspolimet for Tekhsnabexport (Tenex), Rosatom’s sales and trading division.

A Memorandum of Cooperation has been signed between Rosatom and the Kyrgyz Ministry of Health in the field of non-energy use of nuclear technologies in healthcare. The parties agreed to jointly develop high-tech medical projects in Kyrgyzstan. This includes the establishment at the National Centre for Oncology & Haematology of a radiopharmaceutical pharmacy and a centre for molecular visualisation, where advanced methods for diagnosing and treating cancer and other diseases will be used.

A ceremony marking the delivery of the first batch of nuclear fuel for Türkiye’s Akkuyu NPP has taken place at the construction site. This event officially signals the entry of the Republic of Türkiye into the community of countries developing nuclear generation technologies on their territory. Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended by video conference. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, Turkish Minister of Energy & Natural Resources Fatih Dönmez, and Rosatom Director General Alexei Likhachev addressed the ceremony directly.
