South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy (MOTIE) and the UK’s Department for Energy Security & Net Zero (DESNZ) signed a Clean Energy Partnership during the state visit of President Yoon Suk Yeo to the UK. The partnership was signed by MOTIE’s Minister Bang Moon Kyu and the UK Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Claire Coutinho. It reaffirms their consensus on the initiatives of the Carbon Free Alliance, expanding technology collaboration in clean energy and establishing high-level discussions on these agendas.

Bulgarian Energy Minister Rumen Radev and Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on cooperation in the field of energy during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to Sofia. The two ministers noted that the MOU aims at broad development of energy cooperation “to support the economic and infrastructural development of the whole region”. The MOU provides for cooperation in nuclear energy, gas, green energy and energy transition including smart networks.

The XII International Forum Atomexpo-2022 was held in Sochi (Russia) on November 21-22, attracting the heads of key companies in the global nuclear industry, government agencies, international and public organisations. This year, the forum was attended by about 2,500 people from 65 countries. Discussions were held on a wide range of issues including green financing, digital engineering, construction of new NPPs, raw material supply for the nuclear fuel cycle, prospects for the development of onshore small modular reactors (SMRs) and the role of social movements in popularising the nuclear industry. A number of documents were also signed on the sidelines of the forum.
