A project to produce 100 tonnes a year of clean hydrogen from the operation of the Angra nuclear power plant's two units was detailed at a seminar on sustainable hydrogen production in Brazil.

At a meeting in Paris, Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade & Industry industry Nishimura Yasutoshi and France’s Minister of Energy Transition Agnès Pannier-Runacher signed a joint statement to further deepen their cooperation. The ministers affirmed that the two countries will work for the maximum use of nuclear energy to ensure a stable energy supply and achieve carbon neutrality.

SK Inc and SK Innovation - both affiliates of SK Group, Korea's second-largest conglomerate - have invested USD250 million in US nuclear innovation company TerraPower. The investment by SK is part of the latest private capital fundraise, which has raised at least USD750 million of investment in TerraPower.

Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA), Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd (MHI), and Mitsubishi FBR Systems Co Ltd (MFBR) have and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with US-based Terrapower on development of sodium-cooled fast reactor technology.

Southern Company and the US Department of Energy (DOE) have signed an agreement to design, construct and operate the Molten Chloride Reactor Experiment (MCRE) - a proof-of-concept critical fast-spectrum salt reactor. Southern will lead a collaborative effort to build the MCRE - which it says will be the world's first fast-spectrum salt reactor to achieve criticality - at Idaho National Laboratory (INL).
