A position paper by the UK Committee on Radioactive Waste Management (CoRWM) looks at the development of small modular reactors (SMRs) and advanced modular reactors (AMRs) and the implications for management of high-level wastes (HLW) and used fuel. Noting the growing interest in SMRs and AMRs, the 42-page paper says: “The management of spent fuel and radioactive waste from these new reactors must also be considered when selecting technologies for investment, further development, construction and operation.”

South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy (MOTIE) and the UK’s Department for Energy Security & Net Zero (DESNZ) signed a Clean Energy Partnership during the state visit of President Yoon Suk Yeo to the UK. The partnership was signed by MOTIE’s Minister Bang Moon Kyu and the UK Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Claire Coutinho. It reaffirms their consensus on the initiatives of the Carbon Free Alliance, expanding technology collaboration in clean energy and establishing high-level discussions on these agendas.

Orano TN, the logistics subsidiary of France-based nuclear fuel cycle company, Orano, has been awarded a multi-million euro contract by the UK's LLW Repository Ltd, for the supply of packaging, professional services and equipment for the transport of waste from UK nuclear facilities.
