The RPV, which weighs about 340 tonnes and is 11.5 metres high and 5.6 metres wide, is one of the largest reactor components, a vessel containing the nuclear reactor coolant, core shroud, and the reactor core and fuel.
Akkuyu Nuclear said Izhorskiye Zavody began the design and manufacturing process for the component in March 2019, while the completed RPV was shipped to Turkey in November 2021 by sea from St Petersburg. Installation is planned for 2022.

The first batch of fuel is expected to be delivered to the US by 2023 and will be the first new Triga fuel elements produced in more than nine years.
Triga International is the world’s only Triga fuel supplier. The company completed a major renovation project last year in Romans, France with support from the DOE and restarted its fuel production in December for the first time since 2012.
Framatome and General Atomics created the Triga International in 1995 to market Triga fuel elements manufactured at Romans.

The new company, based in Baltimore, Maryland, began trading this week on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol “CEG.”
Exelon announced last February that it had begun work to separate its utility businesses from its competitive power generation and customer-facing energy businesses.
In a press release announcing the separation, Constellation said it is exploring growth opportunities that build on its core businesses and capitalise on the expanding demand for carbon-free energy, including potential acquisition of nuclear plants or other clean energy assets, creating clean hydrogen using its nuclear fleet, and introducing new products and services for business customers.
