Iran has begun pouring concrete for the wall of the second unit at the Bushehr NPP. The director of the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran (AEOI), Mohammad Eslami, said this would raise the level of the wall from -4.5 metres to ground level. He added that plans had been put in place to expedite the construction of units 2&3 at the plant. Eslami noted that Iran is also building a water desalination unit at the power plant and a team of experts accompanied him on his visit to Bushehr for further studies on the project. He stressed the importance of “removing the obstacles in the path of advancing the construction project of units 2&3 at the Bushehr nuclear plant”. He noted that the construction process had witnessed a 28-month delay and expressed hope that the project would get back on track in the near future as a result of the financial support and other measures that will be taken in this regard.
