Kazakhstan has made progress in implementing the recommendations of an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) nuclear infrastructure review mission in 2016, a team of IAEA and international experts said. The four-day Integrated Nuclear Infrastructure Review (INIR) mission was conducted at the government's request.

On 19 October [2022] Russia’s Defence Ministry said the Russian army had destroyed a Ukrainian landing force at Zaporizhia NPP (ZNPP), adding that Kiev had lost more than 90 military personnel and 14 boats. "Today [10 April], at about 4 am, Ukrainian forces of up to two companies made another attempt to land troops on the left bank of the Kakhovsky reservoir and seize the territory of the nuclear power plant," the MOD report said. The ministry noted that the Russian forces guarding the outer perimeter of the plant had destroyed the attacking troops. Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main (pro Russian) Council of the Zaporozhye region administration said the battle lasted more than three hours. In addition, Ukrainian Armed Forces had fired US-supplied Himars multiple launch rockets at the operators’ city of Energodar leaving it without electricity.

The US government has rejected Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power’s (KHNP’s) report on the tender for a nuclear power plant project in the Czech Republic. This has increased concerns that Korea’s plans to boost its nuclear reactor exports may continue to be stalled by ongoing litigation with Westinghouse Electric Company.

The US Department of Energy (DOE) says the Oak Ridge Office of Environmental Management (OREM) and its clean-up contractor, UCOR (United Cleanup Oak Ridge) have begun tearing down the Low Intensity Test Reactor (LITR) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The training reactor, also known as Building 3005, was built in 1951 and operated until 1968. It was built as a mock-up of the Materials Test Reactor that was being constructed at the Idaho National Laboratory.

Slovenian nuclear utility Nuklearna Elektrarna Krško (NEK) says the new used fuel dry storage facility at its Krško NPP has been commissioned with the placement by US-based Holtec International of the first HI-STORM FW cask. NEK received the operating licence for the facility from the Slovenian Nuclear Safety Administration (URSJV - Uprava republike Slovenije za jedrsko varnost) in October 2022. Holtec said the first fuel loading campaign will see 16 HI-STORM FW casks placed into the facility.

The Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Environment has granted utility EnBW Kernkraft GmbH approval to decommission and dismantle unit 2 of its Neckarwestheim NPP. The plant is due to shut down later this month. The 1400 MWe Neckarwestheim 2 pressurised water reactor began operating in 1989. It generated more than 11 TWh of electricity in 2022.

The 730-tonne reactor cavity precast pool has been installed in Hinkley Point C unit 1's reactor building, using the giant crane, called Big Carl. Meanwhile the final phase of the offshore work by the site is under way after the arrival of two large jack-up vessels.
