A memorandum of cooperation has been signed for the Sanmen nuclear power plant in China's Zhejiang province to supply steam to the Rongsheng Taizhou New Material project. It will be the country's largest nuclear energy steam supply project.

Construction has begun of a 23-kilometre-long pipe that will transport nuclear-generated heat from the Haiyang nuclear power plant in China's Shandong province to a wider area, State Power Investment Corp (SPIC) announced. The plant started providing district heat to the surrounding area in November 2020.

The first phase of a district heating demonstration project at the Qinshan nuclear power plant in China's southern Zhejiang Province has today been commissioned, China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) announced. With a total investment of about CNY940 million (USD148 million), the project entered its trial operation phase on 15 November.

The future of nuclear power in China is promising, Zheng Mingguang, Chief Engineer at China's State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) told World Nuclear Association's Strategic eForum 2020 yesterday. He believes both the use of large and small-scale reactors will find applications in China beyond just electricity generation.

China's ACP100 Generation-III demonstration small modular reactor (SMR) has passed a final safety review by the International Atomic Energy Agency, designer and manufacturer China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) said. The ACP100 is the first domestically developed SMR to be reviewed by the IAEA and is the first to have passed a safety review by the agency, a statement said. CNNC said the successful review will help accelerate the ACP100 demonstration project and also prove the technology's worth for the international market.
