The Volgodonsk branch of Russia’s AEM-technology Atommash (part of Rosatom’s mechanical engineering division Atomenergomash) said on 6 August that it had manufactured a set of elbows for the main circulation pipeline (MCP) for units 7 and 8 of China’s Tianwan NPP and units 3 and 4 of the Xudabao NPP. The work was carried out in two stages at the thermal press section of Atommash. At first, the specialists performed ovalisation - the blanks with the help of a press were given the necessary oval shape. At the second stage, the bending of the products took place. After two-stage holding in an oven at a temperature of 870 to 1080 degrees, the elbows were placed in a specialised stamp. Under pressure from a press with a force of 6,000 ton-forces, the workpieces were bent at 29 degrees. The mass of the finished product is 2 tons, the diameter is 1050mm. In total, specialists manufactured 16 MCP components for the two NPPs in China.

The vacuum vessel is a 5,000-tonne steel chamber designed to house the world's first reactor-scale fusion plasma at Iter.
Iter said that according to its machine assembly plan, section number six of the vacuum vessel, manufactured by Hyundai Heavy Industries, will be shipped to Iter’s Cadarache site followed by section number seven, which is also being manufactured by Hyundai Heavy Industries and is more than 90% complete.
Europe is providing the other five vacuum vessel sections. Europe is contributing almost half of the €20bn cost of Iter’s construction. The other six members of the venture – China, India, Japan, South Korea, Russia and the US – are contributing equally to the rest.

Fincantieri, based in Trieste and the largest shipbuilder in Europe, won the deal to supply equipment for the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor, a multinational collaboration aimed at building an experimental hydrogen fusion reactor at Cadarache in the south of France.
Fincantieri said in a statement that the work would include a number of high-profile systems, components, installations as part of the Iter project.
A temporary consortium has been established for the work. It includes Fincantieri itself as the main contractor, its subsidiary Fincantieri SI, active in the field of plant design and industrial-scale electrical, electronic and electromechanical components, Delta-ti Impianti, specialised in mechanical plant engineering, and Comes, specialised in electrical plant engineering.
