India and the USA have extended their Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation on the Global Centre for Nuclear Energy Partnership (GCNEP) by 10 years. The centre - officially opened in 2017 - supports international cooperation in nuclear energy applications.

India is aiming for "fleet mode construction" for future nuclear power plant projects in order to reduce costs and construction times, according to Kamlesh Vyas, chairman of the country's Department of Atomic Energy (DAE). Speaking at the India Energy Forum's 11th Nuclear Energy Conclave in New Delhi on 18 October, he said 17 nuclear power reactors are planned in addition to those already under construction.

Russian nuclear fuel company Tvel, a subsidiary of Rosatom, has signed a contract with India’s Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) to supply enriched uranium fuel pellets for two boiling water reactor (BWR) units at the Tarapur nuclear plant.

India announced that procedures for a civil nuclear agreement with Australia for the supply of uranium have been completed following a bilateral meeting between prime minister Narendra Modi and his counterpart Malcolm Turnbull on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Turkey, reports said.
