The third batch of nuclear fuel has been delivered to the Rooppur NPP under construction in Bangladesh. The fuel arrived at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on a special aircraft from Russia. A senior official of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC) received the fuel consignment at the airport and it was then delivered to the NPP site under special security arrangements with the Bangladesh Army. Traffic movement was restricted during its transportation.

The delivery of nuclear fuel to the Rooppur NPP under construction in Bangladesh will begin in September 2023 according to Minister of Science & Technology Yafesh Osman. The fuel will be delivered to Dhaka by air, and then transported by land transport to the plant site. The Bangladeshi military will take control of the ground part of the logistics operation. “We are expecting that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) director general and Russian president will virtually join our prime minister at the handover programme," he said.

Despite the difficult economic situation and sanctions, Rosatom's exports will grow by about 15% by the end of the year compared with 2021, Rosatom Director General Alexei Likhachev said in an extensive interview with Izvestia. Installation of the metal structures of the outer containment dome for the reactor building of unit 1 at the Rooppur NPP in Bangladesh, has been completed, according to the Engineering Division of Rosatom (ASE). The upper part of the dome, which weighs 100 tons with a diameter 34.4 metres, was mounted in the design position at a height of 57.14 metres. The height of the structure is 63,910 metres, and will reach 64,500 metres after the dome is concreted.

Despite reports of delays in the construction of the Rooppur NPP in Bangladesh, steady progress is being achieved. Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev arrived in Bangladesh on 19 October on a working visit timed to coincide with the installation of the reactor pressure vessel (RPV) at unit 2 of the plant. Likhachev and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed launched the final stage of the RPV installation at construction site in the Ishwardi region.
