HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (KSOE), a subsidiary of South Korea's HD Hyundai, is to collaborate in a nuclear shipping project with UK start-up Core Power and US Southern Company and TerraPower. This followed a joint research and technology exchange meeting at Terrapower’s headquarters in Washington DC.

Bulgarian Energy Minister Rumen Radev and Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on cooperation in the field of energy during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to Sofia. The two ministers noted that the MOU aims at broad development of energy cooperation “to support the economic and infrastructural development of the whole region”. The MOU provides for cooperation in nuclear energy, gas, green energy and energy transition including smart networks.

ARC Clean Technology Canada (ARC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Invest Alberta Corporation (IAC) for co-operation in the commercialisation in Alberta of ARC’s advanced Small Modular Reactor (aSMR) technology. The province of Alberta, along with New Brunswick, Ontario and Saskatchewan, has agreed to a joint strategic plan to support SMR development.

The XII International Forum Atomexpo-2022 was held in Sochi (Russia) on November 21-22, attracting the heads of key companies in the global nuclear industry, government agencies, international and public organisations. This year, the forum was attended by about 2,500 people from 65 countries. Discussions were held on a wide range of issues including green financing, digital engineering, construction of new NPPs, raw material supply for the nuclear fuel cycle, prospects for the development of onshore small modular reactors (SMRs) and the role of social movements in popularising the nuclear industry. A number of documents were also signed on the sidelines of the forum.

India and Vietnam on 3 March signed three agreements including a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to strengthen cooperation in nuclear energy, during Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang's visit to India. The other two were agriculture and trade, and economic cooperation. Discussions also covered enhanced collaboration and cooperation in oil-natural gas exploration, defence and security.

US-based GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Vietnam Atomic Energy Agency (VAEA) "aimed at enhancing the agency's understanding of light water reactor technology and nuclear project management". The agreement calls for GEH and VAEA to "cooperate to promote training and development of qualified human resources" associated with the development of Vietnam's civil nuclear power programme. GEH will provide practical work experience for VAEA staff in areas such as nuclear safety culture, project management and quality assurance.
