The USA will help Thailand develop nuclear power through a new class of small reactors, part of a programme aimed at fighting climate change, Vice-President Kamala Harris announced during a recent visit to Thailand. A statement from the White House said that these reactors use new technology and take up less space, all while having the highest standards of safety, security, and non-proliferation. US experts will work with Thailand to implement the technology.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will provide diagnostic kits, equipment and training in nuclear-derived detection techniques to countries asking for assistance in tackling the worldwide spread of the novel coronavirus causing COVID-19. Fourteen countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean have requested assistance with the diagnostic technique, known as Real-Time Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR). "The Agency takes pride in its ability to respond quickly to crises, as we did in the recent past with the Ebola, Zika and African Swine Fever viruses," IAEA Director General Mariano Grossi said in a statement to the IAEA Board of Governors. "Contributing to international efforts to deal with the coronavirus will remain a priority for me as long as the outbreak persists."

The outgoing governor of the Bank of England, Mark Carney, has said financial companies are failing to act quickly enough to curb their investment in fossil fuels. In an interview with BBC Radio 4's Today programme, he said some financial assets could end up worthless if investment firms don't adjust to a zero-carbon economy. Carney is due to start a new role next year as the United Nation's special envoy for climate action and finance.

India and Vietnam on 3 March signed three agreements including a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to strengthen cooperation in nuclear energy, during Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang's visit to India. The other two were agriculture and trade, and economic cooperation. Discussions also covered enhanced collaboration and cooperation in oil-natural gas exploration, defence and security.
