On 6 September the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) issued a lengthy report on the situation in Ukraine, and later that day IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi addressed the UN Security Council by video link on the same subject. Meanwhile, shelling of the Zaporozhzhia NPP (ZNPP) continued despite IAEA experts being stationed at the site following the IAEA's Support and Assistance Mission to Zaporizhzhia (ISAMZ). ZNPP has been held by Russian forces since early March, but its Ukrainian staff continue to operate the plant.

An International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Support and Assistance Mission to Zaporizhzhia (ISAMZ) set out for Ukraine on the evening of 29 August to ensure nuclear safety and security at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP). Earlier that day IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi wrote on his Twitter page: "The IAEA support and assistance mission is already on its way to the Zaporizhzhia NPP. I am proud to be leading this mission, which will arrive at the ZNPP later this week.” He added that "it is necessary to protect the security of Ukraine and Europe's largest nuclear facility”.

The European Union (EU) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have extended a 2013 agreement to cooperate on nuclear safety. Their cooperation has already led to over one hundred nuclear safety review missions, environmental remediation at former uranium sites in Central Asia and more effective radioactive waste management in Africa.

Iranian officials and a visiting European Union (EU) delegation headed by European Union Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini on 16 April signed various memoranda of understanding for cooperation on research. Iran's participation in the EU Horizon 2020 framework programme was also discussed, Iranian media reported. The European commission, and the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) issued a joint statement on cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy which would include establishment of a regular high-level dialogue meeting once a year (the Framework for Partnership on Nuclear Energy) to review topics of common interest in the nuclear field.

India has ratified the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Convention on Supplementary Compensation for Nuclear Damage (CSC), which it signed in 2010. The CSC relates to liability and compensation in the event of a nuclear incident. The instrument of ratification has been deposited with the agency's deputy director-general and head of the nuclear safety and security department, Juan Carlos Lentijo. The convention comes into force for India on 4 May.
