US-based Last Energy, which is developing a small modular nuclear reactor (SMR), and Poland’s Enea Group have signed a letter of intent to jointly pursue the development of Last Energy’s 20MWe SMRs in Poland. Enea president Pawel Majewski noted at the signing ceremony that “modular nuclear energy, as a safe, scalable and controllable energy source, may be an important pillar of energy security”, adding that SMRs "are the way to achieve zero emissions for our company”.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is dispatching a first batch of equipment to more than 40 countries to enable them to use a nuclear-derived technique to rapidly detect the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. This emergency assistance is part of the IAEA's response to requests for support from around 90 Member States in controlling an increasing number of infections worldwide.

Sergey Kiriyenko, director general of Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom, told journalists at the International Forum ATOMEXPO 2016 in Moscow on 31 May that the 10-year portfolio of Rosatom's orders for construction of NPPs will increase in 2016. "At the end of 2015, the order portfolio was $110bn. The 2016 we plan to finish at $136bn," he said, adding that 34 Russian design NPP units were now under construction in different regions of the world. He added that the cumulative portfolio of orders, including construction of NPPs, fuel supplies, uranium products delivery, services etc., exceeded $300bn.

Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom opened a regional centre headquartered in Beijing on 7 April. "We are looking to expand our business in China, a market with huge potential for growth in the nuclear industry, and the activities of regional centre are designed to help strengthen our cooperation with the country," said Alexander Merten, president of Rosatom International Network (RIN). Rosatom is not only planning to build more new reactors with its long-standing partner China National Nuclear Corp, but is also expected to expand its business into "non-nuclear activities" such as agriculture, organic chemicals and nuclear medicine, Merten said. He was speaking on the sidelines of the 14th China International Nuclear Industry Exhibition in Beijing.

Hyperion Power Generation plans to build a small reactor manufacturing plant in the United Kingdom within the next two years. The firm says it plans to use the existing UK supply chain to build its 70MWt (27MWe), self-regulating reactor and that the UK will be its ‘launch pad’ for the European market.
