The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has released its annual outlook for nuclear power in the coming decades, increasing its global growth projections for a third year. IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi announced the new projections, contained in the 137-page annual report “Energy, Electricity and Nuclear Power Estimates for the Period up to 2050”, during the opening of the IAEA’s 2nd International Conference on Climate Change and the Role of Nuclear Power 2023: Atoms4NetZero in Vienna.

Unit 6 of the Bruce nuclear power plant in Ontario has resumed operation following its Major Component Replacement (MCR) project, Bruce Power announced. The Candu reactor, which was taken offline for the work in January 2020, is scheduled to resume commercial operation later this year.

Bruce Power has reached the major milestone of "substantial completion" of the construction phase of Major Component Replacement portion of refurbishment of Bruce unit 6 and will now begin refuelling work as the focus moves on to returning the plant to service later this year.

Unit 3 of China's Fangchenggang NPP in the southern Guangxi Autonomous Region has begun commercial operation. China General Nuclear (CGN) said reactor had completed a 168-hour trial test run "officially meeting the conditions for commercial operation".

Unit 3 of the Fangchenggang nuclear power plant in China's Guangxi Autonomous Region has entered commercial operation, China General Nuclear (CGN) announced. The unit is the first of two CGN-designed Hualong One (HPR1000) reactors at the site.

CO2 emissions from the USA's largest 100 power producers increased by 7% between 2020 and 2021, according to the latest benchmarking study in a series that began in 1997. 2021's CO2 levels nonetheless remained 16% lower than 1990 levels and about 34% lower than their peak in 2007.
