US power utility Constellation has issued the first corporate green bond in the United States that can be used to finance nuclear energy projects. Constellation will use proceeds from the $900m, 30-year offering to support maintenance, expansion and life extensions of its nuclear power plants. Green bonds are offered specifically to finance projects or activities that deliver positive environmental or climate impacts.

Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) has announced funds of up to CAD50m ($36.8m) to support Ontario’s plan to maintain a clean energy grid while continuing to drive economic development and support Indigenous and community consultation. The funds will support pre-development work to study the feasibility new nuclear build at the Bruce Power site. This is in line with the federal government’s Powering Canada Forward plan.

Bulgaria's Energy Minister Rumen Radev, during a visit to Paris has signed a declaration of intent with French Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire to establish bilateral cooperation in the field of nuclear energy. The French Economy Ministry said as members of the European Nuclear Alliance, France and Bulgaria emphasise the essential role of nuclear energy to achieve the objective of climate neutrality of the European Union by 2050 and to strengthen energy security and sovereignty. The two countries will continue their co-operation both within the Alliance and bilaterally.
