Canada’s Bruce Power said on 24 February that it was celebrating a successful first year of its Major Component Replacement (MCR) project which began in January 2020 with the start of its unit 6 refurbishment. Bruce Power said it had been a challenging year in face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, unit 1 of Canada's Darlington nuclear power plant has set a new world record with 1106 consecutive days of continuous operation.

Canada’s Darlington Refurbishment Project has completed a significant milestone with the successful separation of the unit 3 reactor and its systems from the three remaining operating units at Darlington Nuclear Generating Station.

Darlington unit 3 is ready to begin the next stage of its refurbishment - disassembly - after successful separation of the reactor and its systems from the three remaining operating units at the station. Installation of the final 5-tonne section of steel bulkhead needed for the isolation was completed 10 days ahead of schedule.
