The AED 8.89bn ($2.42bn) refinancing of the Barakah NPP project in Abu Dhabi, announced in 2023, has been recognised as a Green Loan Facility. The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) said this “underscores nuclear energy’s major contribution to powering the UAE’s green economy and energy transition strategy through clean, carbon emissions-free electricity”.

Netherlands-based nuclear energy development and consultancy company ULC-Energy has undertaken a study that investigated the potential to use civil nuclear technologies to power commercial maritime vessels. The study was commissioned by mining company and shipping charterer BHP, a major producer of commodities including iron ore, copper, nickel, and metallurgical coal. BHP has approximately 80,000 employees and contractors, primarily in Australia and the Americas.

PT Pertamina Power Indonesia and Denmark’s Seaborg have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly explore and assess how the next generation nuclear power technology could be utilised both to meet Indonesia’s future clean energy needs including a target of achieving net zero carbon emission by 2060.

US-based Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation (USNC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with South Korea’s Hyundai Engineering and SK Ecoplant to conduct R&D on clean hydrogen production.
