Canada’s Cameco has announced that acquisition of?Westinghouse Electric Company in a strategic partnership with Brookfield Asset Management alongside Brookfield Renewable Partners and institutional partners has been completed. Cameco now owns a 49% interest and Brookfield a 51% in Westinghouse.

Indústrias Nucleares do Brasil (INB) says it has completed the first stage of demolition of buildings at the Unit for Decommissioning of Caldas (UDC) in southern Minas Gerais, which is currently undertaking clean-up of a former uranium mine. Altogether 12 buildings were demolished at the industrial plant comprising 1,900 square metres of disused structures. The cooling tower was the last structure demolished in early September. According to INB, the area where the buildings were located will be restructured using local soil.

Peter Kotin, President of Ukrainian nuclear utility Energoatom and US ConverDyn President Malcolm Critchley signed a confidentiality agreement and a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on uranium conversion during the recent 2023 World Nuclear Symposium in London. ConverDyn is a general partnership between the American multinational companies General Atomics and Honeywell, which provides uranium hexafluoride conversion (UF6) and related services to companies operating nuclear power plants in North America, Europe and Asia.

Consolidated Uranium Inc has announced the start of "comprehensive" work programmes including the reopening of the underground workings at its 100%-owned Tony M uranium mine, fifteen years after it last produced uranium. The Vancouver-based company also plans to investigate the vanadium potential of the underground mine in Utah.

The company has released the full results of a feasibility study on in-situ leach (ISL) mining of the high-grade Phoenix uranium deposit and a cost update to its pre-feasibility study for conventional underground mining of the Gryphon uranium deposit. The deposits are part of the Wheeler River project in the Athabasca Basin of northern Saskatchewan, Canada.
