A group of 18 European companies, led by Poland's Orlen Synthos Green Energy (OSGE), has applied to the European Industrial Alliance for Small Modular Reactors to establish a working group dedicated to the implementation of GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy's BWRX-300 technology.

US NorthStar Group Services has agreed to accept transfer of ownership of the GEH Vallecitos Nuclear Centre, in California, from GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) for nuclear decontamination, decommissioning, and environmental site restoration. The deal should close after the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) approves the transfer including licence transfer from GEH to NorthStar and all other conditions.

US TerraPower says it is confident its first Natrium advanced reactor will be built by 2030. Construction plans and licensing is proceeding as planned, but fuel supply remains a concern, the company said, according to a Reuters report.

GE Vernova’s Nuclear business, GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH), has established a group of qualified supply chain companies to advance the global deployment of the BWRX-300 small modular reactor (SMR). The purpose of the supplier group is to help ensure a reliable, cost effective and innovative process for the manufacture and commercialisation of the BWRX-300. Suppliers who meet pre-defined criteria, customer requirements and demonstrate a willingness to invest in BWRX-300 supply chain capabilities are eligible for selection to the group. The first company to join the group is BWXT Canada Ltd, a subsidiary of BWX Technologies.

UK-based Sheffield Forgemasters has been awarded a strategic nuclear qualification, which the company says positions it to support development and delivery of the next generation of civil NPPs. The nuclear qualification came after an American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Section III Division I NCA 3300 (NCA 3800), NCA 4000 and NQA-1 Code survey and audit, recommended it for Material Organisation (MO), and welding (NPT) accreditations.
