Despite the difficult economic situation and sanctions, Rosatom's exports will grow by about 15% by the end of the year compared with 2021, Rosatom Director General Alexei Likhachev said in an extensive interview with Izvestia. Countries where new projects are already underway or are beginning include China, Turkey, Egypt, Hungary, India, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan's preparations to build its first nuclear power plant are gathering pace with a sense of making up for lost time. The Central Asian country became a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as long ago as 1994, has 50 years of experience in nuclear research and is the world's fifth biggest producer of uranium.

The last few months have been a testing time for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), but with the "steadfast support" of its 171 Member States and the dedication of its excellent staff, it has demonstrated strength and resilience in continuing to fulfil its responsibilities, Cornel Feruta, acting director general of the Vienna-based agency said in his opening address to the 63rd regular session of the IAEA General Conference.
