The general contract has been signed for the construction of two further Russian-supplied reactors at the Tianwan nuclear power plant in China's Jiangsu province. In addition, a technical design contract was signed for a second pair of reactors at the Xudabao site in Liaoning province.

Ukrainian nuclear utility Energoatom and Japan’s Toshiba on 25 October signed a memorandum of understanding and development of cooperation on the modernisation of Ukrainian nuclear power plants, according to Energoatom’s press service.

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) has been signed by Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom and Vietnam's Ministry of Science and Technology on the construction of a nuclear science and technology centre in Vietnam. An inter-governmental agreement to build the centre was signed between Russia and Vietnam in 2011.

A group of 28 Vietnamese students have become the first international graduates of a course on nuclear technology at Russia's National Research Nuclear University MEPhI. The six-year course is part of a program supported by Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom.

Indonesia will not used to nuclear energy to meet its target of 136.7GWe of power capacity by 2025 or 430GWe by 2050, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sudirman Said said on 12 December. This effectively cancels a previous $8bn plan to operate four nuclear plants with a total capacity of 6GWe by 2025. "We have arrived at the conclusion that this is not the time to build up nuclear power capacity. We still have many alternatives and we do not need to raise any controversies," he noted.

Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has signed an agreement with a consortium of Japanese companies to progress the design, construction and operation of the country's second proposed nuclear power plant. Meanwhile, Rosatom will help establish a nuclear energy information centre in Hanoi.
