National Atomic Company Kazatomprom has announced that the Kazakhstan-China joint venture, Ulba-TVS LLP, which produces fuel for Chinese NPPs has completed the qualification process for the production of AFA 3G type A fuel assemblies. Technology holder France’s Framatome has confirmed the announcement. Work on the certification began in March 2023 and took place in four stages, Kazatomprom noted.

Kazakhstan is considering possibly taking back some nuclear assets from joint ventures (JVs), President Nursultan Nazarbayev said at a meeting with the president of national atomic company (NAC) Kazatomprom Askar Zhumagaliev. "NAC Kazatomprom holds interests in different joint ventures, in some of which the partners fail to meet the commitments they undertook. In this regard, it is necessary either to ensure that they meet those commitments or consider the possibility of returning the assets to the state," Nazarbayev said.

Kazakhstan's National Atomic Company Kazatomprom and Electricite de France (EDF) on 6 November concluded a contract under which Kazatomprom is to supply 4500t of natural uranium concentrates to EDF in the period from 2021 to 2025.
