According to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Saudi Arabia is considering a Chinese proposal to build a NPP. Citing Saudi sources acquainted with the situation, WSJ said China National Nuclear Corp (SNNS) had submitted a bid to construct a nuclear plant in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, close to the border with Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation and Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom have renewed a memorandum of understanding establishes a general framework for cooperation on the creation of a nuclear science center in the United Arab Emirates and nuclear plant development and investment.
The MoU, signed in Abu Dhabi on the sidelines of the official visit of Russian president Vladimir Putin to the UAE, also includes plans to cooperate on nuclear fuel cycle management and the training of UAE nationals.
Enec said the MoU is an extension of an agreement originally signed in 2017.
Mr Likhachev said Russia was “very optimistic” about cooperation with the UAE. He said Rosatom and Enec have been working together on the nuclear fuel cycle activities for many years and collaboration can be extended to developing nuclear power projects.

The UAE’s Barakah One Company (BOC), a subsidiary of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (Enec), on 25 September signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea Electric Power Corporation (Kepco) expanding on a previously signed Charter for Joint Business Cooperation.

South Australia Royal Commission into the Nuclear Fuel Cycle recommended, in its 344-page report published on 9 May, that South Australia should "further investigate" the feasibility of the storage and disposal of international used nuclear fuel and intermediate-level waste. The commission said South Australia has the attributes and capabilities to manage and dispose of international used nuclear fuel safely, and it would have a significant inter-generational benefit to the community.
