The US Department of Energy (DOE), through the National Reactor Innovation Centre (NRIC), has awarded $3.9m to Radiant, Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation (UNSC) and Westinghouse to design experiments to test microreactor designs in the planned Demonstration of Microreactor Experiments (DOME) test bed at Idaho National Laboratory (INL).

The VR-2 research reactor, construction of which began last year, has entered operation at the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering (FNSPE) at the Czech Technical University (CTU) in Prague. The reactor will mainly be used for teaching nuclear engineering students.

The Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering (FNSPE) at the Czech Technical University (CTU) in Prague has obtained permission from the State Office for Nuclear Safety (SÚJB) to build the VR-2 research reactor. Construction and commissioning of the subcritical reactor is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year.

A group of more than 100 scientists and environmentalists have written to the European Commission calling for a "timely and just assessment" of nuclear energy in the EU Taxonomy. The letter was sent by Satu Helynen, acting president of the Sustainable Nuclear Energy Technology Platform (SNETP), and addressed to EU Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson and to two European Commission vice-presidents, Valdis Dombrovskis and Frans Timmermans.
