Ukraine and the USA have announced a project to demonstrate the production of hydrogen and ammonia using small modular reactor (SMR) and innovative electrolysis technologies in Ukraine. The public-private consortium also includes Japanese and South Korean companies.

The results of a four-year International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Coordinated Research Project (CRP) on improving system and safety analysis of sodium cooled fast reactors (SFRs) are now available. The recently published IAEA TECDOC, Benchmark Analysis of EBR-II Shutdown Heat Removal Tests, is a result of work done by experts from 19 organisations in 11 member states.

US-based GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) and Advanced Reactor Concepts (ARC Nuclear) on 28 August announced steps to advance their collaboration to develop and license the ARC-100 advanced small modular reactor (aSMR).
