State-run Ukrainian nuclear utility Energoatom said it has become Ukraine's first power generating company to achieve certification according to three international management system standards. This followed a successful audit, between 29 August and 18 November, by Germany's TÜV NORD CERT GmbH of Energoatom's business units and its directorate, separately and as a single legal entity. Energoatom has thus obtained EN ISO 9001:2008 "Quality Management Systems Requirements"; EN ISO 14001:2004 "Environmental Management Systems. Requirements and recommendations for use"; and BS OHSAS 18001:2007 "Management System Occupational Health and Safety". Energoatom said this will help it to meet the conditions of its loan agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Euratom for the joint financing of nuclear safety upgrades at its nuclear power units.
