UK Tradebe Inutec has launched the groundwork and construction phase of the first new permanent facility to be built at the Winfrith site in Dorset, England, for 20 years.

The 700 cubic metre building will be used for the offsite treatment of low- and intermediate-level nuclear waste. The company became a nuclear site licensee in early 2019.

“I’m delighted to get this important project running," said Tradebe Inutec’s managing director, Brian Mulholland.

"When complete, it will give our clients additional options for cost-effective, offsite treatment of their LLW and borderline ILW waste. It’s another demonstration of our commitment to support the UK’s decommissioning mission,” he added.

Tradebe Inutec is part of Tradebe, an international specialist in waste reclamation and recycling solutions.

Tradebe manages and operates 22 hazardous waste management sites in the UK, including five COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) sites.

Tradebe Inutec has been providing solutions for the treatment of radioactive waste for over 30 years. Its site at Winfrith, Dorset, provides access to the broadest range of Low-Level Waste (LLW) and Borderline Waste treatment services in the industry.
