The Russian Government and Rosatom have signed an agreement to develop the country’s high-tech field of quantum computing.

The project, planned for the period up to 2024, will unite the efforts of key Russian organisations involved in the development of quantum computing, as well as potential users of quantum technologies.

Rosatom was the first state-owned corporation to develop and approve the Unified Digital Strategy, a key step to accelerate the digital transformation of the industry. Quantum computers can solve tasks neyond the capabilities of the most powerful “classic” supercomputers. These include modelling the behaviour of complex molecules for the development of new drugs and materials, complex logistics tasks, working with big data and many others.

Other Russian organisations working on quantum supercomputers include specialists at the National University of Science and Technology  and Bauman University.
