Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute has signed an agreement with Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy to establish and operate a joint research and development centre, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The agreement was signed 17 September, on the sidelines of the International Atomic Energy Agency's General Conference in Vienna. It aims to define the framework necessary for establishing and operating the centre to promote and support continued cooperation in peaceful nuclear research and development.
 
Earlier, on 10 September, the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) announced it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the United Arab Emirates to penetrate overseas nuclear power markets jointly.

The MOU aims to develop cooperation plans not only for the construction, operation and maintenance of nuclear plants but for financing, investment, localisation and human resources development,” a MOTIE official said. It will also lay the groundwork for expanding the two countries’ cooperation capability to third countries’ nuclear power markets.”
