Westinghouse Electric Company has been awarded a five-year contract to supply replacement nuclear fuel for units 1-3 of the Oskarshamn nuclear power plant in Sweden.

The contract with plant owner OKG AB includes yearly deliveries from 2016 to 2020.

The fuel will be manufactured at Westinghouse's facility in Västerås, Sweden.

Westinghouse says it has been the main fuel supplier to OKG, delivering nearly 8500 fuel assemblies to the three boiling water reactors (BWRs) at Oskarshamn. The units were design and built by ASEA-ATOM, which was acquired by Westinghouse in 2000.

In May, Westinghouse reported that it had been chosen by Swedish electrical utility Vattenfall to supply fuel assemblies for Forsmark 3 and Ringhals 3&4 over the period 2016-2020. AREVA was also contracted to supplying nuclear fuel for four Vattenfall units over the same period.
