Unit 2 at the Temelín NPP in the Czech Republic was restarted on 14 October following an extended shutdown, operator CEZ said. Temelín-2, a 1,026MWe Russian-designed VVER-1000, was shut down on 5 June 2016 for an annual outage, including refuelling and safety checks. The unit was reconnected to the grid on 6 September, but additional checks were needed on the turbine-bearing support and sealing system. This delayed the restart initially to late September and then to mid-October. Temelin’s two units produces a fifth total electricity in the Czech Republic.
