Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom on 7 December signed a package of documents paving the way for Russian-Zambian peaceful nuclear cooperation, including the construction in Zambia of a nuclear science and technology centre and research reactor. Rosatom deputy director for international activities Nikolai Spassky signed a memorandum of understanding with Zambia’s Ministry of Higher Education on cooperation in education and training in the field of nuclear energy, as well as a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Information on cooperation in enhancing the public acceptability of nuclear energy.

The President of Rusatom Overseas, Eugene Pakermanov, signed an agreement with the Ministry of Higher Education to develop the project for construction of a nuclear science and technology centre. The deputy head of Russian regulator Rostekhnadzor, Alexei Ferapontov, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Health on cooperation in the field of nuclear and radiation safety.
