Constellation Energy Nuclear Group (CENG) has signed a long-term services agreement with General Electric for the Nine Mile Point nuclear power plant in New York.

The long-term agreement (LTA) will cover key nuclear instrumentation and associated technical services at the two-unit BWR. GE will also provide the plant owners with a supply of critical parts, inventory management, and technical services, which are designed to help the plant run “smarter,” GE said in a statement.

Under the agreement, GE will provide its full suite of reactor power monitoring instrumentation, including its most advanced Local Power Range Monitor (LPRM) sensor, and associated technical service expertise. The products are from GE’s Reuter Stokes Measurement Solutions product line, which is a global supplier of in-core and ex-core sensors for both BWRs and PWRs.

“The global energy landscape is undergoing change and requires more flexible, responsive service approaches and more cooperative efforts in which we partner with customers to deliver value. This LTA can help Constellation Energy Nuclear Group operate efficiently by contributing to their financial and technical performance, while decreasing their inventory and schedule risk,” said Leo VanderSchuur, general manager of GE’s Reuter Stokes Measurement Solutions product line.

The agreement aims to help Nine Mile Point units 1&2 operate effectively until their operating licences expire in 2029 and 2046, respectively.

With the signing of this agreement, GE now has long-term contracts in place with the majority of the 36 BWRs in North America for the supply of nuclear instrumentation and/or technical services.
