Frazer-Nash has won a contract to develop Safety Case Documentation and undertake Independent Nuclear Safety Assessments across Sellafield Limited’s portfolio of nuclear sites. Frazer-Nash is supported in the contract by Praxis and ABS Consulting.

The contract will see Frazer-Nash produce and update safety cases across Sellafield Limited’s sites at Sellafield in Cumbria and Capenhurst in Cheshire. The contract also includes the potential to provide safety case support to other Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) sites.

The Sellafield site comprises a range of nuclear facilities including nuclear fuel reprocessing and manufacturing, waste treatment and processing, and a number of redundant legacy facilities. Rigorous safety cases are produced to support the safe operation and decommissioning of such facilities, and to comply with the requirements of the Nuclear Site Licence issued by the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate.

Paul Deeran, Nuclear Business Manager at Frazer-Nash, said: “Sellafield Limited is an important new client for us and we are thrilled to have been awarded this contract. The company was impressed by our established range of skills in this area, as well as our past performance in the production of safety documentation right across the power and energy, defence and transport sectors.

“We look forward to developing and growing our team in Warrington to support Sellafield Limited in this important piece of work.”

Frazer-Nash’s contract runs for two years, and is extendable to four years on completion of satisfactory work.
