Finland's Fennovoima and Lehto Tilat Oy, a subsidiary of Finland's Lehto construction group, have signed an agreement for the design and implementation of the administration building and plant office for the Hanhikivi 1 nuclear plant being built by Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom in Pyhäjoki.

The contract, worth about €30 million ($34 million), is based on the preliminary agreement signed in 2018. The final construction schedule for the two buildings will be confirmed later this year. Construction will take approximately 18 months. The target is to be complete both buildings before construction of the power plant begins.

The six-storey administration building and plant office will be located within the plant area at Hanhikivi headland. The administration building will function as Fennovoima’s office building during the power plant’s construction and operation phases. The plant office will have workspaces for power plant personnel: for operators, maintenance workers, and technical staff.

During the construction phase, the office will also function as Fennovoima’s site office. Currently, Fennovoima employs nearly 400 people, 50 of them are located in Pyhäjoki. After the completion of the office buildings, Fennovoima's operations will gradually move to Pyhäjoki.
