Alternate Energy Holdings, Inc. has signed an agreement to work with Dalian Shipbuilding and Equipment Manufacturing Company, Ltd., a subsidiary of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), to qualify and market large components for use in the international energy industry. These components include nuclear reactor containment liners, desalination units, pressure vessels, storage tanks and offshore wind power equipment.
The agreement was signed by AEHI’s Chinese subsidiary, AEHI China. Headquartered in Beijing, AEHI China develops joint ventures to produce nuclear plant components and consults on nuclear power. The company has been working in China for several years, assisting Chinese manufacturers to meet western engineering standards.
AEHI chairman and CEO Don Gillispie says: "For over 20 years, the Chinese have built and successfully deployed large-scale industrial energy components for domestic power projects and have now obtained the necessary international qualifications, setting the stage to compete effectively in the global energy equipment market.”
“Similar to other industries in which the Chinese have been involved, lower costs will improve the overall economics of large-scale power production, including nuclear power.“ Gillispie continued.
As well as seeking to build nuclear power plants in non-nuclear US states (e.g. the Colorado Energy Park), AEHI assists developing countries with plans for civil nuclear power. Its Korean subsidiary, AEHI Korea is assisting KEPCO (Korea Electric Power Corporation) to export its APR1400 reactor to the US and achieve NRC design certification.
