At the construction site of the Rooppur NPP in Bangladesh, the installation of the metal structures of the dome part of the inner containment shell (VZO) has been completed at unit 1, general contractor ASE (the engineering division of Rosatom) said on 2 August. Specialists of subcontractor Trest RosSEM carried out the operation to lift and install the last tier of the VZO dome, metal structures with a total weight of 230 tons, using a Liebherr heavy crawler crane with a lifting capacity of 1350 tons. Its installation completed work on the installation of metal structures of the VZO.

Alexey Deriy, vice president of ASE and director of the Rooppur NPP construction project said: “Another very important milestone on the road to the construction of the Rooppur NPP has been successfully passed. At the next stage, work will begin connecting and starting up a polar crane, assembling the reactor vessel, a steam generator, and the main circulation pipeline.”

Installation work on the installation of the VZO dome was carried out in two stages - from an elevation of +44,100 metres to an elevation of +51,700 metres and then to an elevation of +60,500 metres. The lower part of the dome - a metal structure with a diameter of 44 metres and a weight of 185 tons - was installed the previous week. In the near future, specialists will start concreting the VZO above the +44,100 metre mark. In September, it is planned to install the reactor vessel at unit 1 Dome installed at Rooppur 1
