On June 4, 2021, Rosatom signed an agreement at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum, on 4 June, with Kamaz (Russian vehicles manufacturer) and Rosseti (Russian national electric grids company) on development of a comprehensive solution for electric transport, charging infrastructure and their maintenance in Russian regions and municipalities. The participants will set up a special project group to coordinate the work. Renera Ltd (part of Rosatom’s Fuel Company TVEL and the sectoral integrator in energy accumulation systems), will be responsible for task solving on for Rosatom. Renera is the developer and producer of Russian storage batteries for electric transport.
“The development of Russian storage batteries production for electro-buses and electric vehicles is one of priority areas of Rosatom’s new businesses,” said Kirill Komarov, Rosatom’s First Deputy Director General and Director for Development and International Business. “Joining our efforts is an important step along the path of Russian electric transport development. It is a roomy and promising market where it is important to change to environment-friendly machinery in a convenient and affordable way for all regions of Russia.”
Kamaz General Director Sergei Kogogin commented: “Kamaz has science and technology competences and proven experience in development and production of electric transport, its operation and servicing…. Our common goal is to broaden the application of environment-safe transport in the country: development of electric transport of different classes, as well as arranging for convenient and affordable recharging infrastructure for these cars. I am sure that the long-term and stable joint work will bring a weighty result in short time,”
Konstantin Mikhailik, Deputy General Director for Digital Transformation at Rosseti said environment-friendly transport plays an important role making the urban environment comfortable. “For Rosseti, this means new problems and opportunities related to development of recharging infrastructure. We actively cooperate with Moscow. In 2020 we started more than 50 ulrafast recharging stations for electro-buses in the capital. We hope that the agreement signed today with the leaders in electric transport and its component parts production will allow for scaling this experience.”
