Nuclear fuel delivered in April for unit 2 of the Belarus NPP is ready for loading into the reactor after acceptance inspections were completed, Rosatom said on 3 May. of the second unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, BelTA learned from the press service of the Russian state nuclear industry corporation Rosatom.

The inspection of fuel assemblies and control rods was carried out by specialists of the state enterprise Belarusian NPP, representatives of the general contractor Atomstroyexport, and representatives of Russia’s Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant (NCCP). Every stage of the inspection was overseen by personnel of the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry (Gosatomnadzor). Pending loading into the reactor, the will be placed in a storage facility.

Belarus NPP will consist of two Russian supplied VVER-1200 power units. The plant was issued a permit for pilot industrial operation of unit 1 in December and it was connected to the grid earlier in March. It is expected that the unit 1 will be put into commercial operation in 2021 and unit 2 in 2022.
