Vasily Polyukhovich, director of the nuclear energy department of the Belarusian energy ministry, was quoted by Belta as saying that construction and installation work at the Belrusian-1 and -2 nuclear plants is 98% and 72% complete.
Mr Polyukhovich said 51% of overall work at the nuclear station was carried out by Belarusian contractors.
Nuclear fuel has been stored at the Belarusian-1 site unit since May 2020, he said.
Russia is building two 1,109-MW VVER-1200 reactor units at the Ostrovets site in western Belarus, close to the border with Lithuania.
Construction of Unit 1 began in November 2013 and of Unit 2 in April 2014.
