Candu Energy, a SNC-Lavalin subsidiary, has signed four contracts with Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power (KHNP) for field inspections, long-term operation assessment and thermohydraulic computer code updates, the Canadian company said in a statement

According to the statement, the contracts are worth approximately CAD 22m ($16.5m)

Candu Energy said inspections will be carried out at the Wolsong nuclear station, where fuel channels and related components will be checked.

The company will also complete engineering analysis and thermo-hydraulic computer code updates at Wolsong-2, -3 and -4.

The Wolsong nuclear power station is made up of four units, one in permanent shutdown and three in commercial operation. All units are of the Canadian Candu 6 pressurised heavy water reactor (PHWR) type.

Units 2, 3 and 4 began operation in 1997, 1998 and 1999 respectively, while Unit 1 was shut down in December 2019.
